Russian Delegation to Learn About Hunger in Broward
A four person delegation of Russian Rotary Club members will be feeding Broward County's hungry and homeless tomorrow, May 6th beginning at 8:30am as they learn about social problems in the richest nation on the planet.
The Russian delegation from three cities will prepare food for 500 homeless and hungry clients - many of them veterans - served daily by The Cooperative Feeding Program, a lead agency in responding to the hunger emergency in Broward County.
Funded by the U. S. Library of Congress, the objective of the Open World Exchange is to bring Russian business and social service leaders to the United States to see successful social programs in action. The programs being visited can serve as a role model for future implementation in Russia. During the week in southern Florida the Russian delegates have been living in the homes of local Rotarians and have visited children's programs, alcohol rehabilitation programs, the United Way, etc.
The media is invited to meet the Russian delegation at The Cooperative Feeding Program, 1, NW 33rd Terrace (corner of Broward Boulevard), Ft. Lauderdale as of 8:30am tomorrow, Friday, May 6th. They can be photographed preparing and serving food to Florida's homeless population.
For more information, please contact Marti Forman, CEO of The Cooperative Feeding Program at (954) 792-2328.
