Cooperative Feeding Program Gives Credit to American Express
April 25th, 2005
American Express' second annual "Make a Difference Month" has been a windfall for Ft. Lauderdale's Cooperative Feeding Program, a lead agency in addressing the emergency food needs of the county's most needy citizens.
During the month of April dozens of volunteers from American Express' Ft. Lauderdale and Miami offices have generously given their time to The Cooperative Feeding Program on 33rd Terrace and Broward Boulevard. The execs and associate staff have been unloading trucks of food, sorting and shelving the food and then packing it up for needy families.

"It has been an amazing experience", admits a tired Mia Daniel from American Express' Atlanta Corporate Services office who is in Florida for training. "To not only learn about hunger issues in Florida but also to do something about them has been important for us all".
Marti Forman, The Cooperative Feeding Program's CEO was more than pleased with the American Express support. "In a time when many corporations are cutting their support to agencies such as ours, it is refreshing to see that American Express realizes the importance of small charities that fill a dire need of a growing number of hungry people in our communities. It is rare these days to find such an important business leader insisting the need to help be solidly within its corporate culture".
The American Express workers came with a commitment to help - they certainly did not leave home without that.
